Pregnanacy Update (38 weeks, 2 days)

(38 weeks, 1 day)

How far along: 38 weeks, 2 days today.

Baby's size: She weighs around 6.8 pounds and is about 19.5 inches long (according to Babycenter).  Her size is always just the average provided by Babycenter because I have no idea how much she actually weighs or how long she is - we don't do any ultrasound measurements at my midwife appointments.

Boy or girl: It's a girl!

How am I feeling: I am feeling pretty pregnant these days.  I get tired really quickly and I get out of breath simply rolling over in bed.  Even though everything is really tiring and more difficult these days I haven't reached the end of my rope yet.  I've heard that at the end I am supposed to just be DONE with being pregnant and I don't feel like that yet.  Maybe I am just lucky or maybe our Little Lady isn't ready yet.

Maternity clothes: I live in leggings and tank tops these days... it isn't pretty, haha.

Sleep: Sucky.  Even when I am really tired I have a hard time falling asleep and when I do finally fall asleep I wake up every hour and a half to use the bathroom.  I guess I am getting ready for many many wakeful nights in the near future.

Baby movement: Lots of shifting her butt around in my ribs and kicking me on my right side.

Food cravings: I am back to not knowing what I want to eat which isn't fun.

Food aversions: Nothing... I just feel very indifferent about food.

What I miss: I really miss knowing what I feel like eating.

Best moment(s): Getting all of our Little Lady's things ready.  I have washed everything, set up her changing table with her itty bitty diapers and her cradle is all ready for her to sleep in.  Kevin and I just have to hang all the artwork and the nursery will be ready.  We hung the Sharon Montrose animal prints over her crib the other night.  They are just too cute!

(animal prints by Sharon Montrose)

What I am looking forward to: Meeting our Little Lady and finally being able to share her name with everyone.  It is pretty crazy to think that any day could be THE day!

Pregnancy Update (34 weeks)

(33 weeks, 6 days)

How far along: 34 weeks today.

Baby's size: She weighs around 4.75 pounds and is about 18 inches long (according to Babycenter).  Her size is always just the average provided by Babycenter because I have no idea how much she actually weighs or how long she is - we don't do any ultrasound measurements at my midwife appointments.

Boy or girl: It's a girl!

How am I feeling: I managed to aggravate my left round ligament last week and I have been in quite a bit of pain since then.  I have been limping around and moving very slowly.  Sometimes it seems like every little movement is excruciating.  The only thing I can do to get the inflammation to go down is rest... which is easier said than done.  I have been going to see the chiropractor once a week and it has helped my back and sciatic nerve pain immensely.  Other than that I am doing really well.  I am pretty tired but still plugging along.

Maternity clothes: I think I am entirely maternity these days except for my tank tops.

Sleep: Still manageable.  Being tired all the time helps for sure and I am usually pretty comfortable if I have enough pillows.  I am sleeping on my sides only which is actually easier than I thought it would be.

Baby movement: She is still a mover and a shaker.  I feel a little heel stick out on my far left side all the time.  I am relishing in each and every shift, poke and kick because I know that I will miss them after she is born... even if they do hurt.

Food cravings: Still nothing in particular though I have noticed an increase in my appetite.

Food aversions: Nothing that I can think of.  There are certain things that don't sound appealing (like salad) but I wouldn't consider those real aversions.

What I miss: I still miss knowing what I feel like eating.

Best moment(s): My final baby shower with all my girlfriends here in NYC.  Marissa and Jenna did such a great job and really made me feel special.  I am so touched by everyone's genuine excitement and generosity for our Little Lady.

What I am looking forward to: The end of work.  I only have 7 days of work left and I am so ready to not sit in this desk chair anymore, it is just too hard on my poor body.  I am also really looking forward to having more time during the day to check baby stuff off my to do list... there is so much futzing to be done!

Pregnancy Update (31 weeks)

(31 weeks)

How far along: 31 weeks today.

Baby's size: She weighs around 3.3 pounds and is about 16 inches long (according to Babycenter).

Boy or girl: It's a girl!

How am I feeling: Tiredddddd.  Kevin and I have been so busy with classes and traveling that it feels like we haven't had a moment to catch our breath recently.  I also haven't been getting in bed till almost 11:30 every night, naughty naughty.  Thankfully we are taking our babymoon this weekend so we will have plenty of time to recharge before we plow through our busy September.  I am also feeling pretty achy these days.  My hips hurts, my sciatic nerve hurts, everything hurts, haha.  I am scheduling an appointment with a chiropractor to see if we can alleviate some of my discomfort and I am getting my first prenatal massage this weekend.  I can't wait!

Maternity clothes: Last night Kev took me to buy some maternity tops because all the t-shirts I have been getting away with have become a little too short in the front.  Except for my long stretchy tanks, I think that everything I wear these days is maternity.  I am definitely lucky that I got away with so many regular clothes till now.  It does seem silly to spend money on clothes at this point since I will only use for the next 2 months or so... then I have to buy some new nursing appropriate clothes, ugh.

Sleep: I have started sleeping only on my sides though sometimes I do wake up on my back.  I am trying to encourage Little Lady to turn 90 degrees.  Sleeping on my sides isn't too bad but it certainly hurts my hips.  Between all the bathroom trips and the constant flipping from side to side I am not sleeping very well.

Baby movement: She moves around all the time still.  Her movements have gone from distinct jabs to more rolling and pushing.  Sometimes I just wonder what on earth she is doing in there.  She has found a nice sensitive spot on the lower left side of my stomach to push on repeatedly and it hurts... it feels like she is bruising some internal organ.

Food cravings: Still nothing at all, boo.

Food aversions: Still have no real appetite but no major food aversions.

What I miss: I still miss knowing what I feel like eating and feeling hungry.

Best moment(s): Definitely the two baby showers that this spoiled little munchkin has had so far.  She sends a HUGE thank you to both sets of grandparents!  I have been so overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and genuine excitement over this Little Lady, it has been so heartwarming.

We got a much better view of Little Lady at our 3D/4D re-do ultrasound.  I still can't get over how cute she is.  Kevin and I just can't wait to meet her and hold her and kiss her and love her.  It is crazy to think that she could be here in just two months, time is flying by!

What I am looking forward to: BERMUDA!!!  Kevin and I leave tomorrow evening for a little babymoon in Bermuda.  I just cannot wait to sleep in and enjoy some alone time with my love.

Pregnancy Update (28 weeks, 2 days)

(28 weeks, 2 days)

How far along: 28 weeks, 2 days today... we have officially entered the third trimester!

Baby's size: She weighs 2-1/4 pounds and is about 14.8 inches long (according to Babycenter).  I think she weighs less than that but what do I know.

Boy or girl: It's a girl!

How am I feeling: Feeling good these days.  I am going to try to re-start a more regular workout routine this week to get my muscles in shape for birth.  I have only worked out very sporadically over the past 2 months or so so it's time to kick my butt into gear again.  I am still focusing on resting which definitely helps with my exhaustion levels.  In our Hypnobabies class last night we were told that the last few weeks before the baby arrives we need to REST REST REST... no re-arranging furniture and cleaning every inch of the apartment every day.  I guess that means I have to fit in more of my baby prep before I stop working so I won't feel so inclined to do a ton of work in the last few weeks before baby.  That might be the hardest part of pregnancy for me... I just can't sit still when there are things I know should be done!

Maternity clothes: Still fitting into normal tees and tanks.  I fear regular t-shirts will only work for a little while longer since my belly will soon make them a tad too short.  My belly is definitely getting big enough to fill out more maternity clothes... I think the next few months will require buying more and more clothes for me to fit into.  Oh well.  I am wearing my first pair of maternity jeans today and honestly I kinda feel like a stuff sausage.  It isn't really comfortable to have my bump wrapped in fabric, the belly bands always feel too snug when I sit down.  If only it were appropriate to wear low-rise maternity leggings and tank tops every single day.

Sleep: Still taking multiple bathroom breaks.  I sleep either on my back with my right side propped up with a pillow (not flat on my back, don't worry) or on my left side with a pillow under my belly, a pillow between my knees and ankles and holding Marshmellow (my teddy bear, ha).  Sometimes I flop onto my right side if I am restless and can't fall asleep.  I miss sleeping flat on my back so much!  I know sleeping with my right side propped up is probably totally taking my back and hips out of alignment.  I plan to visit the chiropractor for some adjustments before birth to get everything back in alignment so Little Lady has enough room to get in the correct positioning.

Baby movement: She is still moving like a champ and her movements are still the highlights of my days.  At 4am last night she decided she needed to do some kickboxing practice which was pretty uncomfortable for me.  For a second I thought she might actually bust through my stomach.  I distinctly felt a foot (or maybe a hand?) jab out of my left side, it was kinda creepy.  If her activity is any indication of her post-birth schedule I better get ready to be awake with this silly little stinker at 4am and 11pm every day... I am gonna be one tired mama.

Food cravings: Still nothing at all, boo.

Food aversions: Still have no real appetite but no major food aversions.

What I miss: I still miss knowing what I feel like eating and feeling hungry.

Best moment: This week's highlight was definitely the short glimpse we got of Little Lady at our 3D/4D ultrasound even if we did piss her off.  Even though she was covering her face it was so incredible to see her mouth moving... it is such a simple thing but it just warms my heart to see her already acting like a little baby.

What I am looking forward to: Seeing family and friends at my parents house this weekend for a little baby shower.  Also really really looking forward to hopefully getting a better glimpse of Little Lady at our redo 3D/4D ultrasound on Monday (fingers crossed!).

Pregnancy Update (26 weeks)

(25 weeks, 5 days)

How far along: 26 weeks today.

Baby's size: She weighs 1-2/3 pounds and is about 14 inches long (according to Babycenter).

Boy or girl: It's a girl!

How am I feeling: I am feeling pretty good.  The exhaustion has lifted some because I have been doing such a good job of resting, HA.  Kev still thinks I am not resting enough but it's harddddd.  I laid on the couch Monday evening while Kev cooked dinner which I haven't done in a long time.  Don't worry though, I got plenty of futzing in after dinner doing the dishes and washing my bathing suits - Kevin reprimanded me for that.  According to him resting before dinner doesn't mean I am allowed to futz around after dinner.

My sciatic nerve is still bugging me and I have done nothing about it.  Stupid me.  I am going to a prenatal yoga class tomorrow so hopefully that will help a little.  Even though we are so insanely busy over the next couple months I am going to try to get back into working out on a semi-regular basis, I have been a major slacker.  I've got to get my muscles in good shape for labor/delivery... oh lord is it already time to start thinking about that?!?!  This pregnancy is flying by!

I have also been feeling some aches and pains which is most likely just round ligament pain but as a first time mama sometimes it is hard not to get worried.  Grow baby grow!

Maternity clothes: Most of my clothes are maternity now except for my tank tops and t-shirts.  I think my belly is finally getting large enough to fill out maternity tops.  I did get my first pair of maternity jeans with a full belly panel... hot.

Sleep: Sleeping pretty well besides the frequent bathroom breaks.  I sleep in what Kevin calls a pillow fortress... one pillow under my right side and a flatter pillow on my left side to support my belly.

Baby movement: She is a mover and a shaker.  Feeling her movements is by far the best part of pregnancy for me.  I am still in awe and have to pause whenever I feel her.  There is nothing sweeter than feeling her move around... it's my little check-in signal from her letting me know she is doing just fine.

Food cravings: Hmmm nothing really... fruit smoothies or green juices sound appealing I guess.

Food aversions: I am still having issues with not feeling hungry ever.  I never feel hungry anymore... I usually just go straight to nauseous if I haven't eaten for too long.  I have been getting so many comments about how small I look these days.  While I obviously don't want to be told how large I am it was getting me a little worried that she wasn't growing enough.  I know I have been eating but I worried that maybe I wasn't eating enough for her.  I measured a little small at my last midwife appointment on Monday (measuring around 24 weeks with a weight gain of 14 pounds in total) but I was told that is totally normal and nothing to be concerned about yet.  If I continue to measure small at my next appointment we might do an ultrasound to check on the little lady.  Kev is prepared to lock me in a room with pints of ice cream to fatten me up.  If such torture should become necessary I request only pints of Jeni's ice cream!

What I miss: I still miss knowing what I feel like eating and feeling hungry.

Best moment: Floating with the little lady in the ocean and pool this past weekend.  It was so warm and heavenly.

What I am looking forward to: My glucose test tomorrow... NOT.  Ha, it won't be that bad.  I am really looking forward to our 3D/4D ultrasound in a couple weeks.  We will get to see her cute little face!

Pregnancy Update (24 weeks)

(23 weeks, 6 days)

How far along: 24 weeks today.

Baby's size: She weighs just over a pound and is almost a foot long (according to Babycenter).

Boy or girl: It's a girl!

How am I feeling: Soooooo tired and worn down which I know is entirely my fault.  I am still really struggling with the whole slowing down thing.  We just have so much planned over the next few months it is hard to find time to really take a break.  For now I am taking working out off my to-do list and resting every moment I get.  I have noticed that my belly seems smaller this past week but I think that is just because she has changed positions.   Of course I freaked myself out about it momentarily but she has been moving so much I know there isn't anything to worry about.  I am just focusing on relaxing (I swear I will be focusing on this for the rest of my pregnancy).

Maternity clothes: I wish I could wear maternity leggings, a stretchy tank and my sneakers every single day.  I am pretty much only wearing dresses, skirts, maternity leggings and stretchy tanks/tees.

Sleep: I am sleeping really well (probably because I am so tired all the time) and still getting up multiple times to use the bathroom.  I don't think my belly is big enough to really make sleeping uncomfortable yet but I am sure that will change soon.

Baby movement: She has been moving around so much lately.  I find that the more active I am the less she moves or maybe I just don't notice her movements as much.  When I rest she has a little party in there just kicking and punching up a storm.  I love every single moment of it.  I have been having the best time watching her move.  It is like watching something try to escape from my stomach... creepy but in a cute way, haha.  The other night I had my hand on my stomach and felt her roll over.  I couldn't tell exactly which body part I was feeling but it was so cool.

Food cravings: I am still struggling with the not being hungry issue.  I thought I was supposed to be ravenous.  I have to keep reminding myself to eat every few hours otherwise I don't eat anything until I start to feel nauseous from not eating.  This sucks.  I do like the idea of drinking smoothies though.  Now that it's miserably hot outside the only thing that sounds remotely appealing is a cold fruit smoothie.

Food aversions: Well I tried to eat some beef jerky last week and almost gagged.  I guess I am kinda having an aversion to food in general... I just don't want anything.

What I miss: I miss knowing what I feel like eating.

Best moment: Feeling her move around like a champ... if this is any indication of her personality we will have one feisty little lady on our hands.

What I am looking forward to: I am looking forward to taking little lady to her first Phish concert tonight and I am looking forward to not doing anything this weekend (after our next Phish show on Friday)... Mama needs her rest!

Pregnancy Update (21 weeks)

(our little lady at 20 weeks, 1 day)

How far along: 21 weeks today.

Baby's size: Baby weighs about 3/4 of a pound and is approximately 10.5 inches long.

Boy or girl: It's a GIRL!

How am I feeling: Really tired.  I just feel tired all the time.  I cannot tell if I am not getting enough sleep or if it is just normal pregnancy tiredness.  I've taken the last couple weeks off from working out because we have been so busy and I know I need to give my body a break because it is working hard growing our little lady.  It is definitely hard letting go of the guilt of not working out... this is something I have always struggled with.  I will get back into working out soon and hopefully this tired phase will lift a little.

Maternity clothes: I cannot wear anything that isn't stretchy.  It is certainly convenient that I can wear dresses and stretchy skirts all summer though the heat is not so pleasant (and I assume it will only feel worse as I get bigger).

Sleep: Sleeping pretty well but obviously getting up a couple times a night to use the bathroom.

Baby movement: I am feeling her kick all the time now.  I can feel her moving around before she gets a good kick in too.  It is so cool to feel the movement building into a kick.  She definitely is most active after I eat and in the evening, especially before I go to bed.  Her kicks can be felt from the outside and I have even seen a couple kicks.

Food cravings: Absolutely noting.  I've actually been having a really hard time coming up with stuff I want to eat.  I just don't seem to be interested in food at all.  It isn't that I have any aversions to foods its just that NOTHING sounds appealing.  I just need someone else to tell me what to eat.  This is driving Kevin crazy!

Food aversions: None.

What I miss: Not much actually... I am feeling pretty content these days.

Best moment: Finding out that Baby Fournie is a girl, obviously!  Also having my parents feel her kick.  It was really special that my dad got to feel her kick for the first time on Father's Day.

What I am looking forward to: Getting to spend time with lots of friends in the next couple months and sharing this little lady (and her kicks) with everyone.  I also cannot wait to get in a bikini on the beach and soak up some rays... hmmm not so sure I am looking forward to everyone seeing me in a bikini but the sun will be nice!

Pregnancy Update (18 weeks)

 (17 weeks, 6 days)

How far along: 18 weeks today!

Baby's size: Baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and weighs almost 7 ounces.

Boy or girl: We find out in just 2 weeks.

How am I feeling: Baby is definitely growing in there because I have been more tired than usual.  I had to take a nap last Sunday because I could hardly keep my eyes open (I never take naps).  Other than that I am feeling really good these days.

Maternity clothes: The time has come to retire all my pants.  I can still wear my jeans with the zipper unzipped and held together with a hair elastic but that still isn't very comfortable.  I have one pair of dress pants I can still squeeze in but I fear they are squishing baby too much.  I officially need to shop for maternity pants.

Sleep: I have been sleeping pretty well until last night.  I am going to order myself a pregnancy pillow to sleep with because my tummy definitely needs the extra support.

Baby movement: I've thought I felt some movement the past couple nights while lying in bed but I can't be sure if it was the baby or just my imagination.  I think I will be feeling more definite movement really soon.

Food cravings: None.

Food aversions: None.

What I miss: Wine... wine... wine.  I did have a small glass a couple weeks ago and while it was nice I didn't feel too sad about not being able to drink more of it (thank goodness).

Best moment: Feeling possible baby movement and having my belly pop out a little bit more.  Also checking out baby gear with Kev... shopping for baby stuff is really fun!

What I am looking forward to: Finding out if little Baby Fournie is a boy or a girl.

Pregnancy Update (15 weeks)

I thought I would start doing a little pregnancy update every couple weeks so here goes...

How far along: 15 weeks today!

Baby's size: Approximately 4 inches long and 2.5 ounces... apparently that's the size of an apple (according the BabyCenter)

Boy or girl: Don't know yet but counting down the days till our June 13 appointment when we will find out.

How am I feeling: Very good and normal these days.  I get pretty tired at the end of each day and I get out of breath quite easily.

Maternity clothes:  None yet but my wearable wardrobe is shrinking in size, uh oh.

Sleep: Great because I get so tired toward the end of every day.  I do get up to pee at least 3 times a night which is inconvenient.

Baby movement:  Nothing yet, hopefully soon (please baby!).

Food cravings: Nothing really besides sweets but that is nothing new so I don't think I would consider that a craving.

Food aversions: None.

What I miss: A nice glass of wine... or 3.

Best moment: Celebrating mother's day early last night with Kevin... I still can't believe I am a mom!

What I am looking forward to: Seeing my mom's side of the family this weekend and our next midwife appointment so we can hear the heartbeat again.

Next update I will add a baby bump picture!
