Dear Elodie (7 months old)

(the most delicious thighs around)

Dear Elodie,

7 whole months old?!?!?!  I am getting really worried that your first birthday is gonna be here soooooo soon.  Time please slow down!!!!!!!!

(getting older calls for fist pumps)
(the sweetest little lovey)

As I write this (three weeks late, ugh I'm the worst) we are staying at your Grammy and Papa's house while they are on a bike trip in France.  We are getting a great dose of peaceful country living.  It is so nice to lay on a blanket in the backyard or sit on the back porch together.  Though I do miss our stroller - carrying you everywhere is taking a tole on mama - I think we both love this slower pace of life.  You certainly love watching the animals.  Surprisingly the animals aren't too scared of you even though you have decided that screaming at them is the best way to get their attention.

(telling me a story)
(talking with her hands)
(plotting something mischievous)

At 7 months old you...
... have two bottom teeth!!!
... are popping up on your hands and knees like it ain't no thang
... can do downward dog with excellent form
... love to scream
... are ticklish and have the best laugh ever
... are constantly chattering away
... are still a total mamas girl
... are very curious about other babies

(always gnawing on those fingers with her two new teeth)
(the faces this one make are priceless)

We have been starting solid foods very slowly.  I do admit I have been dragging my feet a little bit but you also have not shown any interest in eating anything I have given you.  So far we have tried egg yolk, avocado, roasted carrots, roasted zucchini, green beans, applesauce, butternut squash soup and green apple slices.  You make pretty much the same face with everything you have tried... a gagging look of disgust, ha.  I have been taking a little video each time you try something new and they have been HILARIOUS.

(hmmmm what have we here)
(let me investigate this sticky thing)
(mom, did you have something to do with this?)
(I think I will give it a taste)
(this does not taste as good as I thought it would)

Crawling will happen any day now and I am so excited for you though a little scared for myself.  I fear I will never be able to relax again when you start moving on your own.  You constantly pop up on your hands and knees then get up on your toes in a very nice downward dog position.  You have picked up a hand and a knee but haven't quite put together how to move forward.  Usually you rock back and forth pretty aggressively and try to lunge forward or your legs shoot out and scoot you backwards.  It is so much fun to watch you figure this out.  I feel like I have to keep an eye on you at all times so I don't miss your first real crawling steps.

(spit bubbles are the best)
(such a goof)

There are so many moments that I wish I could freeze and hold onto forever.  The look on your face when I walk into your room after you wake up... the little conversations you have with yourself while playing with toys... the hyper-excited way you grasp onto me first thing in the morning...  the way you rest your head on my shoulder when you are shy or tired.  Every moment with you is so special.

(my best girl)

I love you so much my best girl!

Love,
Mom
